Is morality an obstacle to personal happiness?
Acting according to our moral beliefs is a source of happiness.
The lack of morality would lead to a numbed feeling of happiness.
Happiness is not derived solely from the gathering of material wealth or indulging in one's base desires, but also from interpersonal relationships. Being a moral (e.g. trustworthy) person strengthens these relationships.
Morality demands that people help others, particularly those less privileged than them. Helping other people out of sheer altruism brings most people a lot of happiness.
