Should the sale of genetically modified food be banned?
Animals are sentient beings. Making them subject to genetic modification for the purpose of increasing meat and animal product yields is unethical.
Human genetic testing is not allowed for this very reason. The same rule should extend to animals too.
If genetic modification is unethical, then many much more physically harmful animal farming practices like castration or captive bolt pistol use would also be unethical. This might mean that all animal farming is unethical, not just genetically modified animal farming.
Genetically modifying dairy cows to give greater yields could reduce the need for back-to-back insemination and pregnancy, leading to a better quality of life for the parent animal.
Genetic modification of animals can be ethically justified if it improves the quality of life of human beings.
