General AI should have fundamental rights
As legal personalities, such as corporations, have fundamental rights, AGI should have them too.
This is a parallel to how companies work; the government protects them, as long as they operate under regulations.
and therewith entitled to the protection of basic rights, such as right to property.
Corporations are conglomerates of humans and therefore deserve rights allotted to humans. There is no basis to deny groups of humans the same rights we provide to individual humans. AGI are not human and do not need human rights.
The legislative system recognizes corporation as a juridical person only in certain situations.
Corporate personhood is a convenient fiction,
often created for dubious political and financial purposes
. It should not be taken as a fundamental moral truth, and no one should try to draw moral conclusions from its existence.
