Should minors be allowed to go through irreversible gender reassignment procedures?
Children have a right to decide which gender they wish to identify as without state involvement.
Gender is an important aspect of a
person's conception of self
. The state should not have a role in determining how people express these aspects of their self.
The state tries to allow children as many choices as possible, but can still limit the decision making of children in cases where they deem them incapable of meaningfully consenting to procedures.
