Democracy’s success would need every citizen to be engaged with every decision that is taken which is a lot of effort, away from the pursuit of happiness which is every human’s goal.
In representative democracies, the majority of this burden is shouldered by representatives.
A complete success is not necessary in order not to qualify as a failure. An imperfect, partially successful system is distinct from a failed system.
