Should Referendums Be Abolished?
In political decision-making, efficiency and speed are less important than the quality of policies produced. Otherwise, not only referendums, but also elections and democracy as a whole would have to be called into question.
Even if efficiency and speed are secondary in theory, sometimes it is required that politics is able to react fast to unexpected or urgent events without protracted procedures.
Efficiency and speed are vitally important, regardless of the policy - if it is implemented more quickly, it can begin providing benefits earlier, and therefore have a greater overall impact.
