Should unpaid internships be banned?
In some demanding and highly-paid professions, employers do not want to risk offering a job to the wrong candidate.
Unpaid internships allow for certain workers - who may not be
due to the company not knowing if they are worth their salary - to get a job with a company.
It is not necessary to have internships for this purpose. Many countries have legislation that allows companies to dismiss employees after a trial period if their employment is not working out.
Unpaid interns can be a
to companies due to their lack of skills or training. This risk mitigates the benefits of their free labour.
