Should the European Union intervene in the political conflict in Catalonia?
Interventionism is a form of paternalism. Spain and Catalonia should solve their differences together.

The EU derives its power from its member states. The only role the EU can and should facilitate is to accommodate a discussion between both sides to find a solution and ease tensions.

has said that any action against a member state’s constitution is an action against the legal framework of the EU.
Paternalism is not bad if Spain is breaking human rights and international law. One of EU's aims is to enforce protection of all its citizens' rights.
