Should individuals sentenced to life in prison be allowed to choose death instead?
It is an individual's choice to decide if they wish to live or die.
Allowing inmates this choice may reduce some of the
stigma and taboo
associated with the right to die. This shift in thinking may provide individuals with more choice and autonomy by normalising suicide
It is cruel and inhumane to force someone to stay alive against their will.
If prisoners maintain human rights while incarcerated, they should also be given the same
right to die
as any other citizen.
The choice to die cannot be an informed choice since individuals can never experience the sensation repeatedly.
The state should not allow people the right to die.
Criminals should be forced to live with the consequences of their crimes.
