Should Bullfighting be Banned?
Nothing should be decided worldwide.
It is definitely hard to "standarize" global laws, specially when the countries participating on that are not diverse and the power (and ideology) lays always on the same ones.
There are about ten
in the world where bullfighting is practiced. Whether to ban it is a decision for the people of those countries. It is no business of people living in non-bullfighting countries.
Global precepts like the ones written in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are valid worldwide.
If we truly adopt a moral relativist outlook, then taboos such as murder and pedophilia could be considered valid in cultures that find them acceptable. However, we should be justified in condemning such norms.
From this view point, issues such as climate change risks, among others, would never be tackled and solved. We are becoming a globalized species, and if we wish to continue in this path, we need to decide some things worldwide.
Banning sprays that harm the ozone layer of our planet was a global decision, it could only work if the ban went global.
There are many things that should be decided worldwide and have been: banning the use of child soldiers, banning civilian bombing, torture. It isn't always enacted, but it should be agreed worldwide.
