Is it ethically wrong to watch pornography?
Productivity has no relation with ethics.
If one accepts that unproductive actions are unethical, then sleeping more than necessary, playing games or even debating on Kialo (as this debates will probably not produce anything useful) will be unethical too.
The moral goal of being productive makes people feel pressured, because at any time it’s possible that they could be doing something more productive. This pressure is unhealthy for the individuals and it will reduce efficiency, ironically, of this productivity.
Productivity is subject to a goal. What is productive for one goal may be counterproductive for another. Carrying out ethical action is productive toward the goal of being ethical.
Productivity is the measurement of success in goal completion against time. Without it, measuring the impact (and the overall logistics) of our ethical initiatives would become impossible.
Productivity is action, without it, ethics are only theory.
