Should the United Kingdom Ban the Burqa and Niqab?
Such a ban is unbefitting of a liberal democracy.
Moral authority should be the starting point from which any legislation is created within a society. This arbitrary ban would undermine such moral authority, thereby weakening the role it is supposed to play.
The ban would be un-Western as it contradicts the value of tolerance.
One might also argue that a burqa/niqab are instruments of an institution that in itself is not liberal in nature and does not share the same democratic values where every voice is equal.
