The US should adopt the metric system of units
The cost to replace roads signs, etc., is high. NASA reports that it would
cost $370 million
to convert its measurement systems, and other industries would face their own costs.
The cost of changing signs can help stimulate the economy.
Losing expensive craft due to mishaps caused by confusing systems might ultimately be more expensive.
Completely changing all units of measure at once is not necessary. Road signs can be modified in place to show both units of measure and then later completely changed to only show metric once it was more widely understood and adopted.
This would come to about 1$ per person in the US
