A summary execution
is an execution in which a person is accused of a crime and immediately killed without benefit of a full and fair trial. In nearly all civilian jurisdictions, summary execution is illegal, as it violates the right of the accused to a fair trial.
People opt into
a form of social contract with their state
to adhere to the state's law in exchange for protection and services. This would be going directly against that contract.
There is some language in the U.S. Constitution that
specifically supports and recognises the legitimacy of some forms of vigilantism
if the government breaches its promise to protect its citizens.
