Is Adultery Ethical?
You could be ruining someone's marriage.
This can cause serious emotional distress to both people involved in the marriage. Causing other people emotional stress is immoral.
Defining something as wrong because it 'could' have an impact is problematic at best. Many actions 'could' have detrimental impacts, this does not mean that the action is morally wrong.
A one-night stand is unlikely to be detected.
When a partner is asking you for sex, it's arguably them ruining their marriage.
The married partners could have an open marriage, so sleeping with one of them would only be adultery on paper, not morally.
If a person wants to sleep with people outside their marriage then they are not suited to a monogamous marriage, so leaving it or changing to an open marriage would be better for them anyway.
